The Clouds May Be Parting

Dan Monson is out. My favorite squad is about to go a new direction and hopefully we can make a good coaching move here. Ok, so I think it's about 50/50 that Maturi can pick the right guy but heck, we just need change at this point. Our star player is Dan Coleman after all. That's not the reason we bundle up to get rowdy in the barn 20 times a winter. Oh well, I gave out a Dean-ian type scream this afternoon when the news broke. Ain't no stopping us now...

I realize that last March I had a long entry why Monson deserved another year. Well, 9 months later, the team looks in even worse shape so it was time.

Monday Blues

Here's what Nancy's car looked like this morning.

Yes, there are wheels on the opposite side.

You gotta wonder why things happen like this.

I guess someone needed wheels. Maybe they sold them for drugs.

I hope it killed them.

Happy Thanksgiving

It's Thursday, I have the day off, so I was looking foward to sleeping in. My body had different plans, and I woke up ready for the annual turkey fiesta at 6:15 a.m. Figures. Oh well, it's a good time to relax in the morning for once, make some coffee, and read up on books I need to be getting through at a faster pace.

In other news, I've decided it's time I start becoming an HTML-guru. So you'll probably see some changes around here. I'm building my second website for my father's business - it's good practice for me and will be a nice place for his clients to visit. He and I sat down last weekend and planned out what I could handle at this point. The web is still a scary place for him, but he even said a lot of his rural MN and WI customers ask him for his website occasionally. It's a brave new world for him, shown by this exchange:

Him: "I don't want just anyone to visit this site and call me up"
Me: "So I won't include your phone number"
Him: "Oh - I guess that will work."

Good stuff. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

I Am Red

It was back to the office today. On Monday, Nancy and I returned from sunny Florida and a great trip with a few bumps. Mainly, our hotel and some traffic delays cost us time, money, and unnecessary frustration. But beyond that junk - we met the Mouse, we flew to space, the glass slipper girl accused me of being prince charming, and we beat everyone to the finish line at the Ironman Triathlon.

Oh, and we made sure to enjoy a grotto. No, not a grotto like the Playboy mansion - a PG-rated version that wrapped around a hotel. You may not believe me, but no golf or Dunkin Donuts coffee was had - but all in all, it was worth every penny - except for the plane ride back to this frozen hellhole.

The Green

Isn't it great to get all that money deposted straight into your checkings/savings/401k/etc. accounts every pay period? I love it - but I get anxious for every 15 days to come so I can look at my accounts and say, "ya, that feels good."

Six months ago I decided to start being smarter with my cash. After admitting how stupid I am financially, I started wising up. I figured it meant having less fun and I committed to start saving a few hundred bucks each month. Slowly but surely, I've stuck with it. I've also paid off both my credit cards, bought a new computer, and started chipping away at my student loans. I'm also avoiding "stupid" fees. No ATM fees, no overstatement fees, no late payment fees, etc. - those things just make me sick to my stomach.

It hasn't been long and I'm sure it's one of the smartest things I've done in the past few years - and it's time to celebrate. My next financial move - a vacation in FLA.

A golf course is calling...
